Whale Watching

Ahoy, welcome to Whale Watching! This is the hub for all of my writing work.

The main feature is "Whale Watching Quaterly", a quarterly digital zine that I run to package up my writing into more digestible chunks and force me to trim down my work.

The title "Whale Watching" stems from my immense passion for the works of Herman Melville (even though I prefer Pierre to Moby Dick like a true sicko). The goal of the zine is to write about my interests as they happen so I can stay more fast and loose with my writing.

All Whale Watching Quarterly posts are PDF zines I make that follow a strict format of two 400-word mini-essays, one 800-word "longer" essay, and then a roundup of development work I've done since the previous issue and things I have watched, read, and played recently.

Also accessible through the nav bar are rankings of works by various artists (I like to dive deep on artists and rankings are fun ways of examining their bodies of work) as well as normal blog posts, many of which have been migrated over from my Substack (formerly the hub of Whale Watching).

Below on the home page are some of my favorite pieces of mine, but use the tabs at the top to explore all my work!

Artist Master Rankings

Typically, when I get into an artist, I like to experience as much of their work as possible.

As such, I tend to keep rankings of artists with a lot of work, since it helps me remember how I feel about all their pieces. These are the master rankings for all artists I've tracked.

These are live pages that I keep up to date with the latest I've seen from these artists.

Blog

This is the page for all work that does not fit within either the Whale Watching Quarterly or Rankings buckets. Come here for whatever.
